That explains it
Maybe these fantastic desserts that my sexy husband and I got last week at Whole Foods play some part in my budget crisis. But it was SO worth it. My sexy husband choose this one...it had a raspberry cream/mousse and a vanilla cream/mousse between pastry layers with real barely sweetened whipped cream on top.
I chose this one. It had a small slice of chocolate cake on the bottom topped with espresso cream/mousse, dark chocolate cream/mousse, and chocolate cream/mousse. The whole whole thing was wrapped in chocolate and topped with chocolate "fingers", chocolate covered espresso beans, red raspberries, and real barely sweetened whipped cream. Oh man! It tasted even better than it looks or sounds. Coffee and chocolate play so well together.

Cream is basically whipped heavy whipping cream with other flavors added (espresso, chocolate, vanilla..etc) Mousse involves eggs to give it a slightly airier & glossy texture. You've got to try these triple chocolate mousse cakes (link is at the bottom). I despise martha stewart, but I do appreciate these little cakes that I made for a friend's birthday. Time consuming, but oh so good! I added raspberries on top - a good balance between too much chocolate to add a little tartness from the fruit.

ps. to make a quick and easy cream, use 1 small package of instant pudding mix, 1 c. milk & 1 c. whipping cream & beat with hand held mixer. I love using the white chocolate pudding mix or french vanilla.. It is very rich and satisfying. It's borrowed from my mom's cream puff recipe (pastries with the cream in it and bittersweet choco drizzled on top.) It's my number one weakness in food. :)
