It isn't really my eating habits that have gotten me to this place. My eating habits aren't really that bad, and a 30 day raw food challenge won't help them or whip me into shape. Last time I did the 30 day raw food challenge, I lost 8 pounds in one month (my true motivation) and promptly gained it back because I was so sick of salads.
No, I need a much longer challenge than that...and it needs to involve some form of fitness.
So...today I completed my first run on this training schedule that will culminate in my completion of a 5k October 24. The goal is to then start this training schedule that will culminate in my completion of the Columbus Marathon in August of next year.
A full year challenge. That's what I need.

By the way, if you've ever even considered tackling a challenge like this one I highly recommend giving Jeff Galloway's walk-break theory a read. Combined with his totally doable marathon training schedule which has only one long run per week (the other two runs are only 30 min), his walk-break theory has me believing that I can do this...and so can you...and pretty much anyone else who is healthy and willing to commit to it.
I'm excited. And surprisingly, my first run did nothing to dampen my enthusiasm.
So yeah, salads are good. I should eat more of them and post more of them on here. But fitness is the not-so-quick fix I really need.
